Isaro Foundation Starts the First Electronic Library in Rwanda

In a joint effort with the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Isaro Foundation inaugurated the first electronic library in Rwanda on July 5th. The 46 amazon kindles library was given to EAV Bigogwe, a public high school located in the Northern Province.

In this ceremony, the bishop of Kivu diocese, Ahimana Augustin thanked Isaro Foundation and its chairman Mr. Ken Blackwell for participating in this historical event in Rwandan education. “Use these kindles as much as you can, benefit from them” the bishop urged EAV Bigogwe students.

Ken Blackwell explained how the church got involved in this project. He explained to students how they will use the kindles and told them that that was just the beginning. “Isaro Foundation and the Anglican Church of Rwanda will continue to work together in order to implement such libraries in other schools.” Ken concluded.

Jean Leon Iragena, the Founder of Isaro Foundation emphasized on the importance of reading and writing. “It will be impossible for our country to develop intellectually if we do not emphasize on improving our reading and writing skills. It is not about just reading and writing; it is about knowing what is going on around the planet, discoveries, culture and history of other societies. Reading is the most authentic way to update one’s knowledge.” Iragena told students.

The mayor of Bigogwe District thanked both Isaro Foundation and the Anglican Church of Rwanda for such an endeavor. “It is amazing how such young Rwandan students went to the United States of America and came back to help their younger brothers and sisters in order to improve their reading and writing skills.” the mayor told Isaro Foundation.

This project in total has the value of around $ 6,000. Isaro Foundation which normally ships printed books to Rwanda looks forward to implementing such libraries in the country. It is not only getting students to embrace the newest tools of technology, but it is also a way of achieving our goals in an easy and exciting way for students.
